April 2021 Wrap-Up

April has gone by so quickly. I’ve been a bit busy with family visits and trying to figure out how to re-arrange our home and sorting clothes and what-not for recycling. Plus, I had a job interview and I’m starting on the 10th of May!

Let’s do a little employed dance!

Other than that, I’ve had a lot of fun reading and I’ve spent quite a bit of money on buying books x)

Books I read in April
It has been quite a month and quite a few good reads. I’ve been a bit around in the genres – from non-fiction animal/autobiographical stories, YA fantasy, steamy diverse romance, Middle-Grade mystery, fantasy historical fiction, to YA apocalyptical thriller.

How to Be a Good Creature: A Memoir in Thirteen animals, by Sy Montgomery

The Gilded Ones, by Namina Forna

Take a Hint, Dani Brown, by Talia Hibbert

The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane, Julia Nobel

Tomorrow, by Damian Dibben

Things to Do Before the End of the World, by Emily Barr

Books I bought in April
Okay..joining the book blogging community has been absolutely lovely – I’ve made new friends and I am jumping out into even more reading! However, I spend way more money on books now than I usually do…If I go into the TWR gang chat and mention a sale or something I get nothing but encouragement to buy more books. Those people are enablers! They might as well be forcing me to buy these books! I am not accountable AT ALL – this is what I would say if I were in denial. But I’m not. I know, that if I ask my buddies whether or not I should buy some books on sale, I would get nothing but encouragement. I love them for it. I love being part of a community that is supportive and also has a great love for books.

youtube recommendations

Ladyknightthebrave

So, I came across Ladyknightthebrave through recommendations regarding her video essay of The Haunting of Bly Manor lead by movie director Mike Flannigan. From here I saw more of her videos such as her video on The Haunting of Hill House – the first season of Flannigan’s Haunting series. However, it was her video essay on Russian Doll that sold me and got me to subscribe to her channel. If you haven’t seen this absolutely insane, crazy, and awesome show – you should! The season only has 8 episodes, and I adore Natasha Lyonne so much. You can find the show over at Netflix.

Shrouded Hand

Shrouded Hand is a funny sceptic who covers subjects such as the paranormal, supernatural, true crime, and art depicted by people with different disorders. Some of his videos really aren’t for the faint of heart, so proceed with caution. The video I’ve linked to is for his funnier series, where he digs through the internet for paranormal news and comments on them.

Lazy Masquerade

The Best Things Happen in the Dark.

Lazy does videos on creepy stoff as well – collected stories of creepy events, true crime, disturbing posts from Reddit, 4chan etc., and deeply disturbing Wikipedia pages. I enjoy listening to his voice, and his videos are often running when I’m taking naps.

TV Shows

The Incredible Doctor Pol

Funny guy and animals.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Two guys that work together.

Grey’s Anatomy

Some of the lovely ladies over at the TWR chat were talking about this show, and now I’ve accidentally started on it as well ToT

Some of my fave posts of April

By the way! We just got new babies in the house! Say hi to these little cuties ❀

Cheesecake – our cheesy boi, nickname: Cheese
Lovelace – also called Lazy (even if he’s not lazy at all xD)

So this was my wrap-up for April – I hope you enjoyed this post, and please do take care of yourself ❀

    • Tomorrow’s cover was definitely something that pulled my interest, then I read the blurb about an immortal dog looking for his master and I just had to read it!
I listened to The Gilded Ones as an audiobook – if you’re ever going to pick it up again, I highly recommend this format. Narrator was absolutely lovely πŸ₯°
